Srila Prabhupāda: Yes. Preaching, preaching, you will become perfect preacher. Preach only what you have heard from Kṛṣṇa and guru, that’s all.Don’t add and subtract. Then you are secure. And if you add some concoction, just like somebody says that “I may do whatever I like independently. If I chant, then everything is all right,” this is nonsense addition. It is not the fact. That is the danger. Some inexperienced man, he introduces some concoction. Sometimes they say, “Prabhupāda said it.” [laughs] More misleading.Devotee: That’s become so common.Srila Prabhupāda: Yes. Hare Kṛṣṇa. [devotees chanting japa]

Note-today, some 44 years after Srila Prabhupada has passed on, who can count all the deviations in and around the Hare Krsna Movement? When Bhaktivinode thakur was present he counted only  some 13 apa-sampradayas of the sahajiyas during his time. So now 44 years have passed since Prabhupada was here with us to stop concoctions and deviations. If you talk to a 100 different devotees today chances are good you will get around 100 different “opinions” regarding something about Krsna, the gopis, past acaryas, guru tattva, deity worship, how to chant in kirtans, how to offer bhoga, etc.
But for the sincere and serious devotee, there is only ONE opinion to follow. How does one know that one opinion and why should there only be one opinion? He or she must find it in the sastra presented to us by the shaktesvara avatara for this age-Srila Prabhupada. We all can say and do what we want or think, but in the end, the opinion which matters is only that which comes from the cent percent liberated soul . Prabhupada once said unless there is a standard understanding, then everything else is contradiction. Its not that all paths lead to the same destination.
March 28 1975 mayapuraDon’t adulterate—”I think,” “In my opinion.” These nonsense things should be given up. We should always be aware that we are insignificant creature. Our opinion and thinking has no value. This should be the first principle

Dr. Gerson: Oh, yes, yes. If you put ten psychologists in a room and ask them for their opinion, you’ll get ten opinions on the same subject.
Bahulāśva: Like munis. So many minds, so many ways.

Prabhupāda: Yes. Nāsau munir yasya mataṁ na bhinnam:“If a muni, thoughtful man, hasn’t got a different opinion then he is not muni.” (laughter) And that is going on. They take it as advancementThere is no standard knowledge. You speak something, and if somebody refutes it with something else, then he is advanced. And then another comes, he becomes more advanced than the second one. And then another comes. So there is no standard knowledge. What is today standard knowledge, tomorrow it is obsolete. Another standard knowledge. So in that way nobody knows what is the standard knowledge. Is it not?

So long we shall be on the mental platform there will be no fixity of conclusion. That is not possible. We have to accept something for the time being, then again reject it. Therefore all mental speculators differ. Nāsau munir yasya mataṁ na… A philosopher is not philosopher until he differs from other philosophers. Nāsau munir yasya mataṁ na… Unless you place a different thesis he will not be accepted as a good philosopher…. Therefore, through the philosopher you cannot come to the right conclusion. Tarkeṇa aprāptaś ca. If you simply go on arguing that will also not help you. If you simply read scriptures that will also not help you. Because there are different scriptures. Bible is different from Vedas and Vedas is different from Koran. So tarka… by argument you cannot come to the conclusion, by simply reading scriptures you cannot come to the conclusion. By following the philosophers you cannot come to the conclusion. Therefore the truth is very confidential. Dharmasyārtha… guhyam. It is kept very confidentialThen how to have it? Mahājano yena gataḥ sa panthāḥ [Cc. Madhya 17.186]. You have to follow the great personalities who have actually realized God. That is the conclusion.

Tad viddhi praṇipātena. If you want to understand the spiritual science, then you have to approach to a person where you can completely surrender yourself. Because everyone is proud: “Oh, who can teach me? Why shall I go to a spiritual master? I know everything.” That is the general mentality. Therefore Bhagavad-gītā gives us direction that you should go to a person where you can fully surrender. So you have to find out a bona fide spiritual master where you can surrender your pride.

Unless one is under the shelter of a realized spiritual master, his understanding of the Supreme is simply foolishness” quote from TLC

LA July 13 1971—Prabhupāda: Unless one is prepared that “I am accepting somebody as my spiritual master. I must accept whatever he says,” if there is any doubt, that I cannot accepthis words verbatim,” then one should not accept him as spiritual master. That is hypocrisy
