Beware of facebook pages posting changed transcripts and online vedabase version changes

October 31, 2020 in Articles by Yasoda nandana dasa

To make things clear properly, the article is divided into 2 parts, one is that the Facebook pages posting changed quotes (which may not be changed in vedabase) and actual vedabase changes (insertion of 2nd edition revised translations in tapes)
Part 1: List of Facebook pages posting changed quotes with proofs and screenshots.
1. https://www.facebook.com/srilaprabhupada
2. https://www.facebook.com/onlyprabhupada/ 3. https://www.facebook.com/spdailyquotes4. https://www.facebook.com/EveryDaywithSP
Another Facebook page, called https://www.facebook.com/theoriginaliskcon (The Original Iskcon) posts correct transcripts with Sanskrit for almost all of the time, but in one rare occasion it is found that a verse was omitted.  But mostly it does not manipulate the scripts and posts the verbatims. This page is a better source than other pages that manipulate the transcripts.
There is also this website called http://harekrishnacalendar.com/ that posts manipulated daily quotes which is also one of the sources for these Facebook pages.
Some proofs that these pages do not post original quotes:Proof 1: (showing that harekrishnacalendar.com(FB page:https://www.facebook.com/EveryDaywithSP) doesn’t post originals)
Original script:Just like in our palms there are certain marks for a particular person indicating his fame and fortune. Similarly the Supreme Personality of Godhead has got certain signs on His Lotus Feet which are unique for Him only, and they are not to be found in ordinary living entities.  [Letter to Bhurijana, October 28,1969]

Mano Dharma vs Real Dharma explained by SP

October 29, 2020 in Articles by Damaghosa dasa

Bombay Jan 8 1977

Indian man: Swamiji, I get two thoughts. Number one: having acquired a family, I am willing to renounce, but would I not be running away from the responsibility, in the name of Lord Kṛṣṇa, for the bringing up and educating the children? And second thing…

Prabhupāda: You cannot educate, neither you bring. This is māyā. Do you think… Do you think that only in your presence your children will be happy? There are… Just see here in the corner, the father, mother, and the child is always, twenty-four hours, crying. The father, mother, is there. They are poor men, they are taking care, but still, the child is unhappy; it is crying twenty-four hours. There are many you’ll find. So does it mean that in the presence of father, mother, a child is happy? Everyone is being conducted by his destiny. The father, mother, may be there or may not be there; his destiny will go on. This is the law of nature. You see here. Do you mean to say, because that man is poor, he’s not taking care of the child? Why the child is crying twenty-four hours? So if one child is made to cry by his destiny, even in the presence of his father, mother, he has to cry. Nobody can make him happy. So this is called illusion, that “I am doing.” Ahaṅkāra-vimūḍhātmā kartāham iti manyate [Bg. 3.27]. A rascal, he thinks like that. But it is not the fact. The fact is prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni guṇaiḥ. His destiny or her destiny is to suffer. So even though father, mother… Suppose a rich man’s son is sick. He has engaged good physician, good doctor. Does it mean that he will guarantee life? Then what is the principle? Bālasya neha śaraṇaṁ pitarau. Prahlāda Mahārāja said that “It is not a fact that when the children are under the protection of father and mother, he’s secure.” Tvad-upekṣitānām: “If You neglect, that ‘This child must cry; this child must die,’ then even by the greatest care of the father and mother, he will die.” So what is the use, saying that your duty…? Duty? That is māyā.

Indian man: Second thing is…

June 16, 1976

Scheuerman: We rejoice when we see people coming to the Lord God, wherever it may be and however it may be. Do you have the passage there?

Jayādvaita: Yes. “Persons who have acted piously in previous lives and in this life, whose sinful actions are completely eradicated and who are freed from the duality of delusion, engage themselves in My service with determination.”

Scheuerman: Yes, we, too, see sin as an obstacle to communication and relationship with the Lord God.

Srila Prabhupāda: Yes. Read the purport.

Scheuerman: In fact, we define sin as that which separates us from the friendship of God.

Rakṣaṇa: So that means following God’s instructions, such as, “Thou shalt not kill,” right?

·         Srila Prabhupada on the result of additions and alterations

“… If you concoct, ‘I am more intelligent than my Guru,’ ‘I can make additions and alterations,’ then you are finished…” Srila Prabhupada Lecture. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. July 4, 1975

  • Do not adulterate.

So many people sometimes they come forward to give me some credit that I have done very wonderful thing. So, I reply that ” I do not know how to do something wonderful. I cannot manufacture gold, I cannot show any jugglery, but if there is any credit, then the only credit is I don’t adulterate. That’s all.  Srila PrabhupadaLecture, Madras, Tamil Nadu, India. EXPOSING THE BOOK CHANGES: EXTENSIVE LIST OF MAJOR CHANGES IN SRILA PRABHUPADA’S ORIGINAL BOOKS

EXPOSING THE BOOK CHANGES: EXTENSIVE LIST OF MAJOR CHANGES IN SRILA PRABHUPADA’S ORIGINAL BOOKS
Hare Krsna. It is known to many that Srila Prabhupada’s original books have undergone drastic changes. The editors have claimed that they have fixed only the grammatical errors and have kept the writings philosophically untouched, but this is not so. Therefore, the following list of book changes has been compiled to present the changes in an explicit manner for all to know. This analysis of book changes will clear the confusions and will encourage the devotees to stick to the original pre-1978 first edition books by Srila Prabhupada.
It should be noted that some of Srila Prabhupada’s books were changed even during his physical presence. Some of these are Srimad Bhagavatam, Isopanishad, Easy Journey To Other Planets, Teachings of Lord Caitanya. Some quotes are presented towards the end of the article which prove that even such revisions were rejected by Srila Prabhupada. The comparisons have been done for both pre-1978 first editions and pre and post-1978 first and second editions. Hence the devotees are advised to read the first edition pre-1978 books.
A Google drive of book changes articles has been compiled that consists of over 200 articles highlighting the impacts of the changes that pose as an impediment to the understanding the philosophy of Krsna consciousness. The articles can be found in the link that follows.BOOK CHANGES ARTICLES DRIVELink: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cyEy4E4WFpjcdEGJ67TaymZjaNeam3NG?usp=sharing
To help the devotees identify the original books, a drive that contains downloadable Srila Prabhupada’s first edition original books has also been compiled. The devotees are hence requested to take the advantage of this and make the best use of it.ORIGINAL BOOKS DRIVELink: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1nHm72gVwAeei95WDkSLf2aw5x-jRXDoF?usp=sharing

Sri Madhvacarya tirobhava tithi [disappearance day]
Sunday, February 5, 2017 [Mayapura, West Bengal, India time]
Srila Prabhupada glorifies Sri Madhvacarya
compiled by Yasoda nandana dasa

Books : Sri Caitanya-caritamrta – 1975 Edition : Cc. Adi-lila : Adi 1: The Spiritual Masters : Adi 1.19 : PURPORT : Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu accepted the chain of disciplic succession from Madhva Ācārya, but the Vaiṣṇavas in His line do not accept the tattva-vādīs, who also claim to belong to the Mādhva-sampradāya. To distinguish themselves clearly from the tattva-vādī branch of Madhva’s descendants, the Vaiṣṇavas of Bengal prefer to call themselves Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas. Śrī Madhva Ācārya is also known as Śrī Gauḍa-pūrṇānanda, and therefore the name Mādhva-Gauḍīya-sampradāya is quite suitable for the disciplic succession of the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas. Our spiritual master, Oṁ Viṣṇupāda Śrīmad Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Mahārāja, accepted initiation in the Mādhva-Gauḍīya-sampradāya.
