SRIMATE RADHARANI

Who is that girl with Krishna? Many wonder this. First we need to understand that God is not with a material woman. So Who is He with? Srila Prabhupada explains it best, so I will put his words on this web site.

Srila Prabhupada: Let there be one scripture

September 7, 2016 in Yasoda nandana Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

d
In this present day, people are very much eager to have one scripture, one God, one religion, and one occupation.
Therefore, ekam sastram devaki-putra-gitam: let there be one scripture only,
one common scripture for the whole world – Bhagavad-gita.
Eko devo devaki-putra eva: let there be one God for the whole world – Sri Krishna.
Eko mantras tasya namani: and one hymn, one mantra, one prayer — the chanting of His name:
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.
Karmapy ekam tasya devasya seva: and let there be one work only —
the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Pranams
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Below we have a few videos that you can watch of our Janmastami and vyasa puja program here which we observed.
Due to the great distances between all our group members we did both events on the same day, so all could attend both of them.

FANATICISM IS RELIGION- WITHOUT PHILOSOPHY

September 6, 2016 in Damaghosa Dasa by Damaghosa dasa

Hare Krsna-
Below we have a short study of Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam verses wherein the Lord is explaining to us why we should have knowledge of Him and not approach Him just sentimentally, although that is also good, but one must go past that sentimental stage.

Sept 10 1973 Stockholm–
Prabhupāda: Because it is a science. Religion means a kind of faith. It is not faith. It is a science. Science must be based on logic and philosophy. Science means that. And religion means sometimes sentiments. So religion without philosophy is sentiment, and philosophy without religion is mental speculation. Both must be combined. Then it is perfect. You cannot have religion without philosophy. That is sentiment, fanaticism. So religion must be on the basis of science and logic. That is first-class religion
Sometimes devotees say well this person sings nicely so he must have lots of devotion, or this person gives money frequently, so he also must have lots of bhakti. But the real test is how we know Him, in Truth. Knowing Him in truth means eventually, we should be less and less inclined towards matters of materialistic life. Unless
vairagya or detachment from maya manifests in our life, then we are still clinging to illusions, anarthas, etc.

And if this knowledge of Him is not so important,as some say, then why did Lord Krsna take the trouble to speak it to Arjuna in the first place?  Just to have something to say, on the battlefield? Like most of the modern foolish facebook postings which consume our valuable time but do nothing for us spiritually? This sacred Divine conversation in Bhagavad Gita has been handed down now for over 5000 years and continues to be heard and read. What today of what we now do, will be around 5000 years from now? Nothing. But the Bhagavad Gita is still here and will continue for millions of more years as well.

Srila Prabhupada wrote his books for us to read, to study, and be absorbed into our consciousness to help us advance to the spiritual platform which is past the sensual, mental and intellectual levels of consciousness. These three material levels are all to real and most of us function somewhere, within them.  If we were actually completely on the spiritual platform, then we would be liberated and know our svarupa siddhi-our eternal relationship with the Lord. How many of us know what that is? Honestly ? Yes we all know we are servants eternally, but each of us has one particular rasa with Krsna and that relationship is revealed when we are liberated. If we dont know it yet, then we are still conditioned bhaktas. And how to move above those lower platforms means we need jnana and vijnana-knowledge and realized knowledge which comes from sincere , regulated chanting, and service without offense.

POP QUIZ-Why and When was Deity worship first begun???

September 6, 2016 in Damaghosa Dasa by Damaghosa dasa

SB 7.14.39-My dear King, when great sages and saintly persons saw mutually disrespectful dealings at the beginning of  treta yuga, Deity worship in the temple was introduced with all paraphernalia.
PURPORT
As it is said in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (12.3.52):
kṛte yad dhyāyato viṣṇuṁ
tretāyāṁ yajato makhaiḥ
dvāpare paricaryāyāṁ
kalau tad dhari-kīrtanāt
“Whatever result one obtained in Satya-yuga by meditating on Viṣṇu, in Tretā-yuga by performing sacrifices and in Dvāpara-yuga by serving the Lord’s lotus feet one can also obtain inKali-yuga simply by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra.” In Satya-yuga, every person was spiritually advanced, and there was no envy between great personalities. Gradually, however, because of material contamination with the advance of the ages, disrespectful dealings appeared even among brāhmaṇas and Vaiṣṇavas. Actually, an advanced Vaiṣṇava is to be respected more than Viṣṇu. As stated in the Padma Purāṇa, ārādhanānāṁ sarveṣāṁ viṣṇor ārādhanaṁparam: of all kinds of worship, worship of Lord Viṣṇu is the best. Tasmāt parataraṁ devitadīyānāṁ samarcanam: and recommended more than worship of Viṣṇu is worship of theVaiṣṇava.

Dreaming-day and night–SP

September 6, 2016 in Damaghosa Dasa by Damaghosa dasa

Hare Krsna-Below we have 3 items that will help us understand Illusion, Maya as Srila Prabhupada explains it all very clearly in terms of dreaming-both day and night

The Night-and-day Dream

1979-05-08-221x300

LA. January of 1974.
Student: In your books you say this world is like a dream.
Srila Prabhupada: Yes. It is a dream.
Student: How is it a dream?
Srila Prabhupada: For example, last night you had some dream, but now it has no value. It is gone. And again, tonight when you sleep, you’ll forget all these things and dream. You won’t remember, when you are dreaming tonight, “I’ve got my house; I’ve got my wife.” You’ll forget it all. So all of this is a dream.
Student: Is it true, or is it not true?
Srila Prabhupada: How could it be true? At night you forget it. Do you remember when you sleep that you’ve got your wife and you’re sleeping on a bed? When you have gone some three thousand miles away and seen something totally different in your dream, do you remember that you’ve got a place to reside in?
Student: No.
Srila Prabhupada: So this is a dream. Tonight, what you are seeing nowwill become only a dream, just as what you saw last night—now you know it was only a dream. So both are dreams. You are simply a visitor, that’s all. You are seeing this dream and that dream. You, the spirit soul, are factual. But your material body and the material surroundings you are seeing—this is a dream.
Student: But I have the impression that this experience is true and my cream is not true. What is the difference—
Srila Prabhupada: No. This experience is all untrue! How could it be true? If it were true, how could you forget it at night? How could you forget it, if it were true? At night do you remember all this?
Student: No. I don’t remember.

Srila Prabhupada’s amazing humility: You should pray to Krishna for me

(Srila Prabhupada in Hamburg, Germany, September, 1969)

I think that one of the most profound experiences I had with Srila Prabhupada took place in 1969 when I was serving him during his visit to Hamburg, West Germany. I was somehow chosen to take Srila Prabhupada on his morning walk, cook his lunch and give him a massage each day. There weren’t very many devotees in Hamburg at the time, so I somehow got the mercy. This incident took place on Ekadasi. I had given Srila Prabhupada his breakfast and taken away his plates. He then proceeded to cover his head with his chadder, sit in his chair by the window and chanted. So naturally, I figured something was up, but didn’t know what. Sometimes on Ekadasi you don’t quite know what to expect because it is a special day. As the morning progressed, I cooked his Ekadasi lunch and then got ready to give Srila Prabhupada his massage. Reflecting back, I probably didn’t give Srila Prabhupada a very good massage, but at the time, I didn’t really know what he needed. Anyway, he kindly accepted my service. I got out his oil and put down the mat he usually sat on, and then he came in and said to me: “You should pray to Krishna for me.”

Well, needless to say, I was quite taken aback. Here is my spiritual master, a great exalted Krishna conscious personality, asking me to pray to Krishna for him. Well, I went through quite a few changes in a few seconds, and finally blurted out: “Well, I don’t think that would work.”

“Why not? You are a devotee of Krishna,” he replied. Well, I just left it at that and gave Srila Prabhupada his massage.

It was wonderful and surprising that such a great personality as Srila Prabhupada could be so humble. This is one of the qualities of Srila Prabhupada that is very attractive to me, and also very endearing.

2-if you analyze the mind it is always busy asking questions and getting answers-how much is on Krsna?
3-the secret of success is to receive spiritual sound from the right source as anything else- has no
potency
4-Sound very important thing-either a source of bondage or liberation

Idolatry in Iskcon?

September 4, 2016 in Articles, Narasimha Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

Madhya 8.90 Talks Between Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Ramananda Raya
Following the example of the gopis, the devotees sometimes worship the goddess Katyayani, but they understand that Katyayani is an incarnation of
Yogamaya. The gopis worshiped Katyayani, Yogamaya, to attain Krsna as their husband. On the other hand, it is stated in the Sapta-sati scripture
that a ksatriya king named Suratha and a rich vaisya named Samadhi worshiped material nature in the form of Goddess Durga to attain material perfection.
IF ONE TRIES TO MINGLE THE WORSHIP OF YOGAMAYA WITH MAHAMAYA, CONSIDERING THEM ONE AND THE SAME, HE DOES NOT REALLY SHOW VERY HIGH INTELLIGENCE.
 Idolatry in Iskcon?

by Narasimha das

These pictures show a vyasasana in an Iskcon temple room. On this vyasasana is mounted a large picture of an “Iskcon guru,” and it appears there is a ritvik initiation ceremony going on – but without Srila Prabhupada. Apparently the gbc accepts ritvik initiations as long as Srila Prabhupada is not recognized as the guru. These photos indicate that the gbc is allowing idolatry in Iskcon.  Idol worship is condemned in every scripture. Idolatry is defined as the unauthorized worship or adoration of a material object or person as if it (or he) were super potent, super cognizant, fully divine and capable of reciprocating with all devotional offerings.

“If one tries to mingle the worship of yogamaya with mahamaya, considering them one and the same, he does NOT really show high intelligence.” (Cc. Madhya 8.90, Purport)

One reason idolatry is sinful is because simple persons who are pious and naturally attracted to offer worship to the Supreme Lord sometimes become diverted from authorized devotional service to the Lord’s Deity form and bewildered instead by showy displays of idolatrous rituals based on concocted traditions. Sometimes in imitation of Deity worship, tribals, fallen dvijas, misguided sudras and others offer incense, flowers, fruits, ghee lamps and meat to murtis of goddesses associated with Ma Kali, other minor devatas, yaksas, raksasas, bogus “avatars,” bogus “gurus,” and even political leaders.  All such unauthorized ritual is useless.
