Jai Srila Prabhupada!

Jai Srila Prabhupada!

093_1974_01-64-15-300x179.jpg My dear Lord Krishna, great personalities and devotees in full Krishna consciousness always think of Your lotus feet and remain fully satisfied by drinking the nectar of transcendental bliss. The nectar which they constantly drink sometimes comes out of their mouths and is sprinkled on others as the narration of Your transcendental activities. This nectar coming from the mouth of a devotee is so powerful that if one is fortunate enough to take the opportunity to drink it, he is immediately freed from the continuous journey of birth and death. Got tulips?

Hare Krsna to all

All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Today, after the swell of around million touristas have left our town, we went to see the tulip fields close by to us. As one can see, so many varieties are grown here and this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what is available. Just before the tulips the daffodils appeared , yet another spectacular display of Krsnas amazing energy.
In the Bhagavad Gita it states–“Sarva kama dugha mahi” from the earth all our necessities are given to us.
When one looks at just the vivid colors present in these flowers, one could ask why dont we see those colors in the mud or earth? Yet that is where they all came from. How did all that color come from just mud?
We dont see those colors there, yet here they are in the flowers. Read the rest of this entry →

This Prabhupada Story- you are really going to like….

April 27, 2014 in Articles, Damaghosa Dasa by Nityananda Rama dasa

A Heart Touching Pastime Of Srila Prabhupada :

Sripada Hrdayananda Babaji Maharaja was born in Radha Kunda and has been a pujari for 78 years. He lives next to the Radha Damodara Temple. At the beginning of the interview, upon being asked if he knew Srila Prabhupada, Babaji Maharaja began to cry, “Never have I seen anyone do sadhana like he did. I have lived all my life in Vraja and I have never seen anyone like him. Prabhupada did many arduous things, he worked very hard there at the Radha Damodara Temple. At that time it was austere, undeveloped, and very muddy and dirty with no facilities.
“Many years later, when I heard that it was actually he who had been chosen by Caitanya Mahaprabhu to spread the Hare Krsna Maha-Mantra around the world, I was not surprised. Read the rest of this entry →

No initiation means questionable next birth‏

Gaura Nitai

No way to calculate the value of accepting initiation from a bona fide spiritual master

Dear Ravendra Gupta,

Please accept my blessings. I have only recently received your

letter of February 6, 1974, due to travelling.

I am very glad to hear you are following my instructions by

chanting 16 rounds daily. In order to chant offenselessly, so that the

chanting will have the greatest effect, one must avoid the four sinful

activities. You have asked “How serious would it be for me if I should

miss the golden opportunity to become your initiated disciple?” You

should know that the value of accepting a bonafide spiritual master is

more than we can calculate. It is not a mere formality. Of course

everyone is encouraged to chant Hare Krishna, but until one gives up

sinful activities and becomes determined to serve Krishna through His

representative then the firm fixing up of devotional service will not

take hold, and there is every chance that one will fall prey to all

sorts of material desires and have to come back again in the next

life–and one cannot guarantee that he will be born in the form of

Yasya smrtya ca namoktva tapa-yajna-kriyadisu, nunam tam purnakam yati

that yasya smrtya ca moktva tapo-yajna-kriyadisu. These are pious
activities: austerity and sacrifice, tapas, yajna, and kriya, pious
activities. Everything is done simply by chanting this Hare Krsna
mantra. There is no need of doing anything. Simply by chanting, one
can achieve the result of japa, yajna, and other ritualistic
performances prescribed in the Vedas. And this is specially advised to
the karma-kandiyas, those who are very much fond of performing
ritualistic ceremony. For them this instruction is specially meant,
that if you chant simply Hare Krsna mantra without any offense, then
you’ll get all the results of japa, yajna, and other ritualistic

Krsna, His name, His fame, His attributes, His activities…
Sri-krsna-namadi na bhaved… Namadi means “beginning from the holy
name.” So not possible… So if we keep ourself on the material
platform, then for thousand years we may chant, it will be difficult.
That is called namaparadha. Of course, holy name is so powerful that
even by chanting with offense, gradually he becomes pure. Therefore we
should not give up chanting. Any circumstances, we should go on
chanting Hare Krsna. But the warning is that if we keep us on the
material platform, then it will be not possible to understand Krsna,
His holy name, His attribute, His form, His activities. It will not be

How Cow Killing Started in India‏

Story Why Cow Killing Started in India

Share it now!

Those were the times when India was at the peak of Mughal Rule. The rulers of a large part of India were Muslims and guess what; they had banned Cow Slaughter in that Mughal Empire. Nobody dared to kill cows and eat beef during the Muslim Empire.

The Mughal Empire and Cow

Babur, who invaded India all the way from Kabul and established the Mughal Empire in India, despite being an orthodox Muslim had banned Cow Slaughter in his empire. All successive MughalEmperors had banned Cow Slaughter in their kingdoms. Hyder Ali and Tippu Sultan who ruled the Mysore State in the present day Karnataka had made cow slaughter and beef eating a punishable offence and the crime would be punished by cutting off the hands of the person who committed the crime!

Today in India we have over 36000 slaughterhouses! How did this massive turn around take place? Read the rest of this entry →

“opulence” vs simplicity–which one?‏

April 23, 2014 in Damaghosa Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

Hare Krsna to all
All glories to Srila Prabhupada
To  pursue material life means that one has given up the desire to go back to Godhead, by trying to make
for himself, thru plan making, a comfortable situation within this universe.
That said, here are a few things given by  Jagat Guru Srila Prabhupada about how one should go about “living” within the three modes of material nature.
Damaghosa das

SB 8.19.21 P The aim of the varnasrama divisions—-is to train
one to control the senses and be content with the bare necessities.
Here Lord Vamanadeva,
says that without
contentment one could not be happy even if he possessed the property
of the entire world or the entire universe
…. In modern civilization there is no
such education;
everyone tries to possess more and more, and everyone
is dissatisfied and unhappy.
The Krsna consciousness movement is
therefore establishing various farms, especially in America, to show
how to be happy and content with minimum necessities of life
and to
save time for self-realization, which one can very easily achieve by
chanting the maha-mantra–Hare Krsna.. Read the rest of this entry →

“this has caused me much pain”—SP‏

Hare Krsna to all

All glories to Srila Prabhupada
Below are a few points about the basics of Krsna Consciousness. This means
we are originally servants, and to regain this mentality one must chant
Hare Krsna mantra. The problem arises when we add our “own” twist
to the tune….
67-10-14.Bra             Letter: Brahmananda
“Swami Kirtanananda has returned to the United States and is
causing quite a stir among the devotees. Following his suggestions, we
have stopped wearing robes and have cut off our flags. He said these
appurtanences are too strange-looking to outsiders and only make it
more difficult for them to consider chanting Hare Krishna. Swami
Kirtanananda has said we must avoid appearing to be Orientalists if we
are to have 108 centers in the US.” Read the rest of this entry →

A story about how to understand what surrender means‏

April 23, 2014 in Damaghosa Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

Kuresh, the famous, intimate disciple of Srila
Ramanujacharya once asked his guru the meaning
of the well-known Bhagavad-gītā verse 18.66:
sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja
ahaṁ tvā sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ
“Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender
unto me. I will deliver you from all sinful reactions.
Do not fear.”
Yudhisthir hears from Bhishmadev
Ramanuja replied to him, “A person who gives up
all independent desires and serves his guru absolutely
for an entire year can fully understand the meaning
of this verse, and no one else.” Read the rest of this entry →

Where did the souls in the bodies of trees in Vrndavana come from??

April 23, 2014 in Damaghosa Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

KB 15                   Killing of Dhenukasura
Krsna then spoke to His elder brother Balarama as follows: “My dear
brother, You are superior to all of us, and Your lotus feet are
worshiped by the demigods. Just see how these trees, full with fruits,
have bent down to worship Your lotus feet. It appears that they are
trying to get out of the darkness of being obliged to accept the form
of trees. Actually, the trees born in the land of Vrndavana are not
ordinary living entities. Having held the impersonal point of view in
their past lives
, they are now put into this stationary condition of
life, but now they have the opportunity of seeing You in Vrndavana,
and they are praying for further advancement in spiritual life through
Your personal association. Generally the trees are living entities in
the mode of darkness. The impersonalist philosophers are in that
darkness, but they eradicate it by taking full advantage of Your
presence. Read the rest of this entry →

Taking the dust from the lotus feet of a Pure Devotee and follow what he says…‏

April 23, 2014 in Articles, Damaghosa Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

Hare Krsna to all
All glories to Srila Prabhupada
Below we  have put three different things together.
1 Prabhupada explaining how spiritual life is easily done. Take the  dust from a pure devotees lotus feet and then–all our anarthas will be finished  !
2. Krsna is in everyones heart- and  especially for the  devotee we should not give Him trouble there
in the form of so many requests for Him to fulfill for our neediness.  Instead we should accept Krsnas
plan, that will make both Krsna and us , happy.
3.Dont be allured by the machine civilization thinking that “I can make so  much money in the city,
and that will make me happy” No. Get out of this soul killing civilization,  grow your own food, save time
and chant Hare Krsna. This is Krsna’s and Srila Prabhupadas plan.

Srila Prabhupada glorifies Srila Vrindavana dasa Thakura

April 23, 2014 in Yasoda nandana Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

Vrindavana dasa Thakura’s birth
nārāyaṇī–caitanyera ucchiṣṭa-bhājana

tāṅra garbhe janmilā śrī-dāsa-vṛndāvana

nārāyaṇī—of the name Nārāyaṇī; caitanyera—of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu; ucchiṣṭa-bhājana—eater of the remnants of food; tāṅra—of her; garbhe—in the womb; janmilā—took birth; śrī-dāsa-vṛndāvana—Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Thākura.

Nārāyaṇī eternally eats the remnants of the food of Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura was born of her womb.

In the Gaura-gaṇoddeśa-dīpikā, a book written by Kavi-karṇapūra that describes all the associates of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and who they previously were, there is the following statement regarding Nārāyaṇī:

ambikāyāḥ svasā yāsīn
nāmnā śrīla-kilimbikā
kṛṣṇocchiṣṭaṁ prabhuñjānā
seyaṁ nārāyaṇī matā

When Lord Kṛṣṇa was a child, He was nursed by a woman named Ambikā, who had a younger sister named Kilimbikā. During the time of Lord Caitanya’s incarnation, the same Kilimbikā used to eat the remnants of food left by Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. That Kilimbikā was Nārāyaṇī, who was a niece of Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura’s. Later on, when she grew up and married, Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura was born from her womb. A devotee of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is celebrated in terms of devotional service rendered to the Lord; thus we know Śrīla Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura as the son of Nārāyaṇī. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura notes in this connection that there is no reference to his paternal ancestry because there is no need to understand it. Read the rest of this entry →

Rocana dasa still in a nose dive‏

April 19, 2014 in Yasoda nandana Dasa by Yasoda nandana dasa

by George Smith

Is Rocana dasa another zonal acarya wannabe?

I rarely read anything that Rocana dasa writes anymore. Now and then I check the waters so to speak, to see if he is continuing to spiral downwards or hopefully checked his downward momentum by divesting himself of his offensive attitude and thirst for glory.  As ever pilot knows however, its hard to come out of a tail spin as Rocanas latest painful cry posted on the Sampraday Sun on April 10th,Deconstructing the Lilamrta – Part 55
BY: ROCANA DASA in which he tells us that all of the devotees who think that Srila Prabhupada is still alive are fools brings our attention to his statement:
Those devotees who like to adamantly state that Srila Prabhupada is ‘still alive’, and ISKCON should just go along as if that were the assumption, are fools. This is just one of innumerable circumstances where Srila Prabhupada stepped in and saved not only the money, but the movement. It was his ability to function in the real world and his perception about who was a devotee and who was basically a demon that saved the day, and was a great contributing factor in the amazing expansion of Krsna consciousness during that period, when Srila Prabhupada was directly overseeing of the movement. Of course, he is still with us in his vani legacy, but there is no replacing his actual physical presence with us to guide and solve problems, hands-on Read the rest of this entry →

Sri Balarama rasayatra

Books : KRSNA, The Supreme Personality of Godhead – 1970 Edition :  Volume 1 : KB 1-21 / The Gopis Attracted by the Flute :

Kṛṣṇa was very pleased with the atmosphere of  the forest where flowers bloomed and bees and drones hummed very  jubilantly. While the birds, trees and branches were all looking very  happy, Kṛṣṇa, tending the cows, accompanied by Śrī Balarāma and the cowherd boys, began to vibrate His transcendental flute. After hearing the vibration of the flute of Kṛṣṇa, the gopīs in Vṛndāvana remembered Him and began to talk amongst themselves about how nicely Kṛṣṇa was playing His flute. When the gopīs were describing the sweet vibration of Kṛṣṇa’s flute, they also  remembered their pastimes with Him; thus their minds became disturbed,  and they were unable to describe completely the beautiful vibrations.  While discussing the transcendental vibration, they remembered also how  Kṛṣṇa dressed, decorated with a peacock feather on His head, just like a dancing actor, and with blue flowers pushed over His ear. His garment  glowed yellow-gold, and He was garlanded with a vaijayantī necklace. Dressed in such an attractive way, Kṛṣṇa filled up the holes  of His flute with the nectar emanating from His lips. So they remembered Him, entering the forest of Vṛndāvana, which is always glorified by the footprints of Kṛṣṇa and His companions. Read the rest of this entry →
