3 short bits of nectar from Srila Prabhupada

May 28, 2013 in Damaghosa Dasa by Yasodanandana Dasa

SrilaPrabhupada1. 72-05-24.Gir               Letter: Giriraja
Please accept my blessings. I have received your letter dated May
9, 1972 and I have noted the contents carefully. Actually it is the
duty of the spiritual master to find fault with his students so that
they may make progress
, not that he should always be praising them. So
if you find some criticism, kindly accept it in that spirit. I am only
interested in that you along with all my other students should become
Krishna Conscious. Read the rest of this entry →

May 26, 2013.  Prabhupadanuga Farm in Fiji

One fine, sunny morning this last week, I was marking small junk trees along the edge of the forest to be cut in the making of the new hillside pasture, when I stopped to listen to the sounds of the project that were resounding clearly across our tropical rainforest valley next to the seacoast:

1.       There was the small chain saw, not far away, as Isaac cut the bush stumps at ground level for the new pasture,

2.       And the tractor, as Bill was moving some timber over to the equipment shed, reminding me of when Srila Prabhupada came to New Talavan, Read the rest of this entry →

“Everyone is trying to become fortunate”–SP

May 14, 2013 in Articles, Damaghosa Dasa by Nityananda Rama dasa

■750716SB.SF                     Lectures                   Everyone is trying to become fortunate. Now, Canakya Pandita  gives three things, formula, “If you want to be fortunate, then do  these three things.” What is that? Murkha yatra na pujyante: “Do  not give any credit to the rascal.” That is first qualification. Don’t  be carried away by the rascal. Murkha yatra na pujyante. If you worship  a rascal, then your life is spoiled. You must worship a really  learned representative of God. That is very good. And dhanyam  yatra susancitam: “Food grains, they are properly stocked.” Not that  for your foodstuff, getting your food grain or earning your  livelihood, you have to go hundred miles, fifty miles. No. At home, you produce your food grain and stock it. In India still, they  work for three months during this rainy season, and they get their  food grains for the whole year. You can save time so nicely. So  these things are required for happy home. There must be food grains. You  cannot be happy without eating.
That is not possible. Annad bhavanti. Krsna also says in the  Bhagavad-gita, annad bhavanti bhutani. If you have got sufficient anna,  eatables, foodstuff, then you become happy.
So three things: … you have got big, big stock.  That is required. There may be scarcity at times, but if you keep stock, then  there is no trouble. This one, no foolish rascal should be worshiped, food  grains should be nicely stocked, and the third thing, most  important, dampatyoh kalaho nasti: “There is no  disagreement between husband and wife.” If these three things are there, then  you haven’t got to pray to the goddess of fortune, “Kindly be merciful.” She  will automatically come. “Here is a very nice place. I shall stay  here.”

This is spiritual tendency–SP

May 9, 2013 in Articles, Damaghosa Dasa by Nityananda Rama dasa

750304mw.dal                 Conversations                 Prabhupada: The thing is that here material world means that whatever you want, you have to work for it. That is material world. Things are there, but  you have to work for it. In the spiritual world there is no need of  working. You get all necessities. That is the difference.
The three divisions of God’s energies. One energy is His  spiritual energy; another energy–these living entities, they are  also spiritual; another energy–material energy, where there is  ignorance and work. That is material energy. In the material energy everyone  is ignorant and they have to work. Karma. Karma means  working. Read the rest of this entry →

Cleanliness is next to Godliness–SP

May 8, 2013 in Articles, Damaghosa Dasa by Nityananda Rama dasa

67-10-03.Nan  Letter: Nandarani, Krsna Devi, Subala,  Uddhava
…I am always with you. Our procedure is very  simple and consistent. We chant, we read from Bhagavad-gita &  Srimad-Bhagavatam and we distribute prasadam.   Another thing I  request is that everything in the Temple should be kept nice and clean.  Everyone should wash hands before touching anything of Krishna’s. We  should always remember that Krishna is the purest & similarly only the  pure can associate with Him. Cleanliness is next to  Godliness.   Your ever well-wisher A. C. Bhaktivedanta  Swami

“We are not painting the tin car”-SP

May 4, 2013 in Articles, Damaghosa Dasa by Nityananda Rama dasa

750301r3.atl                 Conversations                 Madhava: Can we say that the living entity is there, and that he  is the one that makes the molecules and the atoms come together to form  a body just like the scientists give explanation? No? We can’t?
Prabhupada: No. Because the living entity is there for the  formation of his body, so many things are going on, action and reaction of  the matter. That’s all. That is depending on his desires. It  is so subtle thing. He is desiring, and action, reaction is going  on.
And as soon as the living entity is not  there, these action and reaction will stop. Read the rest of this entry →
