How a pure devotee directly communicates with God‏

Hare Krsna-below we have a very instructive conversation by Srila Prabhupada with a reporter. Srila Prabhupada directlys communicates with Lord Krsna-He says a pure devotee does this DIRECTLY, NOT FIGURATIVELY.
Unless one is on this level he cannot be spiritual master.

Below is a few paragraphs where Srila Prabhupada kindly explains that there is no difference between the teachings of Krsna in His Bhagavad gita and Lord Caitanya’s teachings 500 years ago.
Krsna said-Surrender to Him.& that.there is not truth superior than Him… and Caitanyadev said as a devotee…
Everybody you meet tell him about Krsna.
So to surrender to God, Krsna in this day and age means to preach the teachings of Caitanya Mahaprabu. Preaching is the same as or equated with– surrender to God.
And preaching can be done in 4 ways according to Srila Prabhupada-by your words, by your intelligence, by your wealth and by your life. Pick one or 2 or 3 or all 4.

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila 1.3 — Mayapur, March 27, 1975 : 750327CC.MAY :

Bhagavad-gita as it is is pure knowledge, beginning with the first knowledge one has to understand, that he is not this body. Because this is the basic principle all ignorance: “I am this body.” “I am American,” “I am Indian,” “I am brahmana,” “I am this,” “I am that”—this is the basic principle. Śrī Caitanya Mahaprabhu also says the same thing in a different way. He says, “I am not a brahmana, I am not a ksatriya, I am not a vaiśya, I am not a śūdra, I am not a brahmacārī, I am not a gṛhastha, I am not avānaprastha, I am not a sannyāsī.“ These are negation. Then what is the positive? He says, gopī–bhartuḥ pada-kamalayor dāsa-dāsānudāsaḥ: [Cc. Madhya 13.80] “I am the servant of the servant of the servant of the gopī–bhartuḥ, Kṛṣṇa, who maintains thegopīs.”

.. You have missed already, because when Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu appeared five hundred years ago people already became fools and rascals. They did not care for the teachings of Bhagavad-gītā. Therefore He again came as devotee of Kṛṣṇa to teach us how to serve Kṛṣṇa, how to love Kṛṣṇa. This is Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s cult, the same thing. When Kṛṣṇa appeared He said, sarva–dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja: [Bg. 18.66] “Give up everything, so-called rascaldom. Just surrenderto Me.” And Caitanya Mahāprabhu, He said the same thing as a devotee: yāre dekha, tāre kaha ‘kṛṣṇa’-upadeśa
He did not say anything new. That is the authenticity. “I have manufactured some way”—these are all rascaldom. The same thing you should… You can… Just like in your country it is said, “Old wine in a new bottle.” Similarly, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhuis teaching the same thing. Kṛṣṇa says, mattaḥ parataraṁ nānyat kiñcid asti dhanañjaya. Caitanya Mahāprabhu says the same thing: yāre dekha, tāre kaha‘kṛṣṇa’-upadeśa . And we are saying the same thing, na kṛṣṇāt caitanyāt para–tattvam:“There is no more superior truth than Kṛṣṇa Caitanya.” Why? Because He is talking the same truth as Kṛṣṇa said. SB 6.10.9

If one is unhappy to see the distress of other living beings and happy to see their happiness, his religious principles are appreciated as imperishable by exalted persons who are considered pious and benevolent.

PURPORT

One generally follows different types of religious principles or performs various occupational duties according to the body given to him by the modes of material nature. In this verse, however, real religious principles are explained. Everyone should be unhappy to see others in distress and happy to see others happy. Ātmavat sarva–bhūteṣu: one should feel the happiness and distress of others as his own. It is on this basis that the Buddhist religious principle of nonviolence — ahiḿsaḥ parama–dharmaḥ — is established. We feel pain when someone disturbs us, and therefore we should not inflict pain upon other living beings. Lord Buddha‘s mission was to stop unnecessary animal killing, and therefore he preached that the greatest religious principle is nonviolence.

Srila Prabhupada: You should not imitate great personalities like Bhaktivinode Thakura, but you must follow His footprints. But it is not always possible to have the same success as great personalities like Bhaktivinode Thakura achieved. So in all circumstances you should try to follow the footprints of authorities but never to imitate them.

Srila Prabhupada letter 20 September, 1968 :

What is the most harmful association in the world?

– A dharmadhvaji is a person who has no actual devotion or renunciation in his heart but makes a show of it externally. He wears the clothes of a devotee to accomplish materialistic ends in a duplicitous manner. There is no worse association in the whole world than that of a dharmadhvaji. One should rather associate with sense enjoyers.

Being deceitful, the dharmadhvajis take on the appearance of devotees with a desire to cheat everyone, and to fulfill their crooked desires, they cheat the foolish by helping them in their rascaldom. Some of the dharmadhvajisbecome gurus and others become disciples, and by trickery, they accumulate wealth, women, false prestige, and material assets.

The “Tradition” argument does NOT hold. Srila Prabhupada did many things against the so called Tradition:

1) Traditionally – no Westerners were given Initiation.

2) Traditionally – no Westerners were given Sannyasa.

3) Traditionally – no Acaryas went out of India to Preach.

4) Traditionally – no Tape of Gayatri mantra was used.

5) Traditionally – Ramanvami fast in India is observed till 12.00pm AFTERNOON.

Sounds like he is promoting the Gaudiya Matha gurus, whom we need to make sure we are not offending. At the same time he forgets, its the Gaudiya Matha folks that have promoted immature gurus. ys pd

I read the article by Chitraketu which has a lot of valid points. However, the one statement below makes me somewhat alarmed. It almost sounds like he is saying there are some personalities present who can function as spiritual masters in ISKCON. Then there will be some people who will present some individual as a guru , another group someone else, and before you know it you’ve got the same mess again.

Revisions – A Very Serious Situation

Dec 20, 2010 — USA (SUN) — As I read “Interpretations of Bhagavad-gita”, recently published by Sun Staff, I noticed that the English translations of the Sanskrit Gita verses quoted by Srila Prabhupada just did not seem to fit, especially for a paper that was written by him all the way back in 1948. The style and arrangement of words appeared to have been taken from a much later date than the way I felt Srila Prabhupada would have written in India in the 1940’s. It dawned on me, perhaps these English translations were not the original English translations after all. Could it be they may have been changed or edited and not actually from the 1948 versions used in the original paper as presented by Srila Prabhupada?

So I took it upon myself to compare all the verses in this article with an original 1972 Gita along with the revised 1983 Gita. Not surprisingly, the result was this: each and every verse quoted from this 1948 paper came from the 1983 revised and enlarged edition of Bhagavad-gita. How can that be, since in 1948, this revised and enlarged version of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita never even existed in the first place?

KRSNA’S SMILE AND LAUGH‏

SB 3.28.33—With devotion steeped in love and affection, the yogī should meditate within the core of his heart upon the laughter of Lord Viṣṇu. The laughter of Viṣṇu is so captivating that it can be easily meditated upon. When the Supreme Lord is laughing, one can see His small teeth, which resemble jasmine buds rendered rosy by the splendor of His lips. Once devoting his mind to this, theyogī should no longer desire to see anything else.

PURPORT

It is recommended that the yogī visualize the laughter of theLord after studying His smile very carefully. These particular descriptions of meditation on the smile, laughter, face, lips and teeth all indicate conclusively that God is not impersonal. It is described herein that one should meditate on the laughter or smiling of Viṣṇu. There is no other activity that can completely cleanse the heart of the devotee. The exceptional beauty of the laughter of Lord Viṣṇuis that when He smiles His small teeth, which resemble the buds of jasmine flowers, at once become reddish, reflecting His rosy lips. If the yogī is able to place the beautiful face of the Lord in the core of his heart, he will be completely satisfied. In other words, when one is absorbed in seeing the beauty of the Lord within himself, the material attraction can no longer disturb him.

But we are so rascal that we do not take advice of Kṛṣṇa, we manufacture our own ways, the suffering goes on.Mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti. This is māyā.He’s thinking that he’ll make his own plan and be happy. That will never be possible. The only plan you have to accept—what is that? Sarva–dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇam[Bg. 18.66].
