Govardhan puja festival
Sedro Woolley, Washington

Hare Krsna Prabhus--

Obeisances
All glories to Prabhupada

Yesterday we had our annual Govardhan puja festival. The menu of prasadam included:

a hill of halava- both semolina and farina, couscous, nut/bean pate with beans toasted cashews, sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds plus various herbs and spices.
There were many boulders made from pumpkin pakoras,  dried figs, apricots, and plums.
There were rocks made from macademian nuts, pecans, peanuts, cashews, sunflower and pumpkin seeds as well as raisins. Different features were made of various dried fruits. Dried mango lines the Yogis cave and formed the steps up to his ashram. The path is chips of dried banana, the fence is made from dried papaya. There are bushes made of broccoli for which a dipping sauce was offered and trees and shrubs made of rosemary, sage, asparagas fronds, and carrot tops. There was a kunda of Sweet Rice. In addition we offered
split pea dahl and basmati rice, plum chutney and plum nectar.
Guests brought sak with paneer, macaroni and cheese, koffta balls and tomato sauce, carrot cake, cookies, and fresh sliced fruit. The earth on the hill was shaded with dill weed powder, and poppy seed.
We also had 14 Tulasi Devi's  who were living in or around Govardhan hill to complete the atmosphere of Vraja dhama, Krsna's personal abode.
Outside the temple, the weather was almost exactly like that on the day Krsna lifited Govardhan hill with wild winds and rain. This made it easier to picture the conditions which all the inhabitants had to endure while lord Indra played his part.

After we did arotik/ kirtan, I gave class on the appearance of Govardhan mountain, and some of His pastimes in this connection with Indra.  We nicely chanted Damodarastakam, devotees offering candles to Lord Damodara, Anubhavananda played  one of his new poems on this pastime of Krsna, then we ALL FEASTED TO OUR FULL SATISFACTION.

ALL GLORIES TO LORD DAMODARA
ALL GLORIES TO SRILA PRABHUPADA WITHOUT WHOM, NONE OF US WOULD BE DOING ANY OF THIS DEVOTIONAL ACTIVITY.
